History of the British Empire

Joseph Agbecko alias: "King Kong," will be fighting 25 year old Mexican Abner Mares in Vegas

Joseph Agbecko alias: "King Kong," born in Ghana, resides in Bronx, New York, will be fighting 25 year old Mexican Abner Mares from Montebello, California, August 13, 2011 at a Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Agbeko hopes to settle the issue of who is the best bantamweight. "The best right now (are) me, Abner Mares, Vic Darchinyan and Yonnhy Perez," Agbeko said. "And Abner and I have gotten to the finals. Whoever wins is the best bantamweight, no doubt about it."

Bantamweight champion Joseph Agbeko found himself lying face down and unable to move late one night last April.  It was not on a canvas — the fighter from Ghana known as King has been knocked down once, never knocked out in the ring — but on the pavement outside an airport. King Kong was in excruciating pain and was hospitalized.

Since he and Abner Mares, right, are the ones who have reached the bantamweight finals, "whoever wins is the best bantamweight, no doubt about it," says Joseph Agbeko.

Mares is the former WBO NABO Bantamweight Title Holder in (2007-08).  He represented Mexico at the 2004 Olympics in Athens as a Bantamweight. Lost in the opening round to Zsolt Bedak of Hungary on points 27-24. He also was the Silver medalist at the 2004 World Junior Championships, Silver medalist at the 2003 Pan American Games; lost to Guillermo Rigondeaux (CUB), Gold medalist at the 2002 Central American & Carribean Games, Gold medalist at the 2002 World Cadet Championships. he claims an Amateur Record of: (112-8 84 KO's).

Mares had a great camp in training and he is ready for the battle.

Agbecko was the International Boxing Federation Title Holder.  But on:"April 20th, 2011, it was announced that Agbeko was forced to withdraw from his IBF Bantamweight Title defense against Abner Mares and the four-man tournament citing a case of sciatica, or "weakness, numbness, or tingling in the leg." that occurred four days earlier. It is caused by injury to or compression of the sciatic nerve. Agbeko had spent some time in the airport and as he walked outside to the car, collapsed. He was taken to the emergency room and, after an MRI exam, was diagnosed with the condition."

Agbecko also captured numerous titles. The list includes: Commonwealth (British Empire) Bantamweight Title (2004), World Boxing Federation Bantamweight Title (2001-02), All-African Bantamweight Title (2000) and Ghanaian Bantamweight Title (1999).

The officials for the fight have been chosen, and they are:referee: Russell Mora, judge: Adalaide Byrd' judge: C.J. Ross, judge: Oren Shellenberger. They will be fighting for the IBF bantamweight title, WBC Silver bantamweight title.

Frequently Asked Questions...

What products/items or services were Ottoman empire seeking in colonized areas?

I'm having the hardest time finding out information on what I need.....products/services they aquired from the colonized areas in Africa,Asia?

With other Empires such as Spanish, British, Russian, etc it's very easy they want gold, ivory, silk, silver,slaves......but I cannot seem to find anything about what products the Ottoman empire was in search for in the areas of Africa ?

I know they must have chosen the locations from Egypt to Tunisia for trade routes....but this isn't a valid product, and I also need a credible website as a source

Answer:

Ottoman expansion had nothing to do with products, services,or trade routes. What the Ottomans was after was land.

The Ottomans were originally a warrior society, and the loyalty of individual warriors depended on how much reward they got for their military service. It was customary for the Sultan to give land grants to warriors who had distinguished themselves in battle, this land being taken from newly conquered territories. The recipient of such a grant was then expected to provide a certain number of troops for the Sultan's army when required. So,motivation for the individual warrior to serve and excel in wartime was always present.

Of course this meant that the empire constantly needed to expand, and when it stopped doing so,the Ottoman empire went into decline because its military went into decline as a direct consequence.
