My Arai Profile Helmet - Review
Here is our Arai Profile review.
Arai is the only motorcycle helmet manufacturer that offers its helmets in different internal head shapes. Arai make a great helmet.
Like all Arai helmets, the Arai Proile Solid Helmet's shell was hand sculpted by Arai craftsmen, not a computer. This helmet's ScLc (Super Complex Laminate Construction) shell utilizes Arai's proprietary aerospace fiberglass to achieve an exceptionally strong, flexible, yet lightweight shell. The Profile's Long Oval (LO) interior shape was specifically developed to give the most comfort and best fit for riders with long narrow head-shapes.
The interior of the Arai Profile Helmet is what I would call moderately plush. I've tried on helmets that used softer materials in the lining and padding but the Arai is certainly nicer inside than a lot of other brands.
Head shape is critical when it comes to proper helmet fitting.
For all of you riders with an excessive amount of brain capacity, Arai has introduced the Profile model in size XXXL.
But there are plans to expand the range of colors in the future, although the other solid colors can now be special-ordered. Those colors are Aluminum Gray, Aluminum Silver, Black Frost, Gray Frost, Silver Frost, Race Red, Sport Blue and Sport Yellow. You can see them all on the Profile page of the 2008 Helmet Line section.
Arai feels that one major reason for our helmets’ legendary reputation for exceptional comfort and fit is our belief that the shape of a rider’s head (the relationship between its length and width) is as important as the head’s size in getting the best helmet fit and comfort. In other words, two riders can have identical head sizes, but if one’s shape is long and narrow, and the other’s is round (the front-to-back and side-to-side dimensions are very close), both riders cannot get the best fit in the same helmet shape.
The Arai Profile is Snell M2010 compliant.

The Profile use Arai's infinite adjustment system for lowering and raising the visor; that is, it works via a science of friction device rather than a ratcheting system.
The visor also has the safety snap lock on the lower left hand side, which customers also don't like, because the visor and helmet twists as it overcomes the initial resistance as the visor is eventually lifted. Arai uses a D-ring attachment on the Profile, which is much convenient over the overly complex quick release latch. There's ample padding attached under the chin strap and it feels comfortable.
The Arai Profile helmet is a very well made, comfortable quiet helmet designed for riders with long oval head shapes. It is a quiet helmet and it flows more air over the top of the rider’s head than the Quantum II did. The Arai Profile is profoundly quiet when all vents are closed.
