Frequently Asked Questions...
1 oz .999 troy silver coin with mercury facing right instead of left ?
I have a few silvere coins I am trying to find the value of. I have several rolls of 1 oz .999 silver coins with Mercury facing left but I also have a roll of 1oz silver coins with the mercury head with long hair facing right. I can't find these listed any where. They are all in mint cond.. I also have a similar issue with a roll of 1oz silver coins with either a large indian head or a small indian head. Can anyone help me with these ?
Answer:
The reason you can not find them is they are not coins but what are called silver rounds. They are actually in the bullion category. There value lies in the 1 oz .999 fine silver. They are not a coin collectors item. There are hundreds maybe thousands of different designs that the private mints that make them hope will sell them. All the coin designs have been used as well as the revolutionary war sites. They commemorate all kinds of things such as world war II too the civil war. When you go to sell them a dealer will weigh them and make you an offer based on the spot price of silver at that time. That is usually spot minus a % that the dealer takes off for his profit. You can check the spot price Mondays-Fridays at Yahoo or google by typing in silver spot.
